Manchester City beat Leicester to qualify for the EFL Cup semifinal

- Manchester City have qualified for the semifinal of the 2018/19 EPL Cup

- The Citizens defeated Leicester City 3-1 on penalties on Tuesday night at the King Power stadium

- Pep Guardiola's men who are the holders of the competition also beat Leicester City at this stage last season

Premier League champions Manchester City have qualified for the semifinal of the 2018/19 EFL Cup after beating bitter rivals Leicester City on Tuesday night, December 18.

Pep Guardiola's men had to win 3-1 on penalties after the regulation time ended 1-1 at the King Power Stadium.

Manchester City scored the first goal in the 14th minute through Belgian football star Kevin De Bruyne who was assisted by Nicolas Otamendi.

But the hosts came back into the game in the 73rd minute when Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi provided a wonderful assist for Marc Albrighton to score equalizer for Leicester City.

The match however went into penalties before Manchester City won the encounter 3-1 on penalties.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Real Madrid star Isco emerged as a January 2018 target for Premier League champions Manchester City and the Citizens will have to meet his transfer clause to sign him.

Although the Spanish football star is under contract at Real Madrid till the year 2022, but lack of active playing time this season under Solari at the Bernabeu could force him out of the club.

Manchester City are said to be readying a bid of around £80m, but Real Madrid will be reluctant to accept anything below €100m (£89.95m).
