2019: Show me any capable substitute for Buhari among those contesting - Yusuff declares

- Bisi Yusuff declares that President Buhari does not have any rival ahead of 2019

- Yusuff believes that the planned defection of Godswill Akpabio to the APC will have a mjor negative impact on the PDP

- The lawmaker says Senate president, Bukola Saraki, must be reeling in regret over Akpabio's move

A member of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Bisi Yusuff, on Monday, August 6, declared that there is no alternative to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

He also declared that Senate president, Bukola Saraki, must be regretting his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yusuff, who represents Alimosho constituency 1, who commenced his annual medical outreach for Lagosians, told journalists that he was very sure Buhari is not luring any lawmaker with money as was being claimed.

“Even if you don't know any other thing about Buhari, you should know that he is a disciplined man and would not use money to induce anyone. He does things based on principles and superior arguments.

“We have such superior arguments. Look at major roads across the country that he has built, for the first time in many years, the people of Delta state saw a train and they were screaming in excitement.

“Do you think those people would now follow another person in 2019? Please tell me any substitute for President Buhari in this country as it is today. Just tell me one,” he said.

Yusuff noted that the defection of some legislators from the APC had to do with allegations of corruption.

He said it was corruption that was fighting back.

“The way it is, corruption is so rampant that as you try to fight it, it fights back in multiple ways. That is what is happening. All the money they looted were not taken to the bank, some were buried and now, they have the opportunity to spend it on politics and to fight back,” he said.

Concerning the planned defection of Akpabio from the PDP to the APC and its implication, Yusuff noted that the minority leader of the Senate is not just a small man in politics.

“He performed wonderfully when he was governor of Akwa Ibom. I was one of the delegates who visited the state then for a seminar. He told us then that he learnt to be an achiever from Lagos.

“You will see the multiplier effect of his defection on the APC. It is going to be positive. For those who are hell-bent on ruling the country, they have been defeated.

“Akpabio is coming in a big way. He is not alone. So many people will join him and Saraki will know that he is playing a kindergarten ball in the presence of giant footballers.

“His defection shows that every hour, every minute, we will continue to beat PDP to its game,” he said.

The lawmaker said 35 health professionals from the United States of America were currently in the country to carry out surgical operations as well as proffer other medical solutions to challenges of beneficiaries.

He urged government at all levels to do more in providing quality health services and making them affordable for the people.

Apart from providing treatment for ailments like malaria, typhoid, cough and cold, his Prince of Hope foundation also covers eye-related issues and surgeries on hernia, lumpectomy, keloids, among others.

“If this crowd of people have been living in agony for several years without money to seek medical attention, government across levels and well-meaning individuals must rise up and provide affordable and quality healthcare services.

"We assure that no one will be turned back without treatment," he said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Timi Frank, the former deputy national publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), described the anti-corruption war by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government as dead, Daily Trust reports.
