Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives update on Mohamed Salah’s injury ahead of City Champions League clash

- Mohamed Salah limped off in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Man City in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday, April 4

- He scored one goal and assisted another in that game, which earned him the UEFA player of the week award

- However, he wasn't available for the Reds in Saturday's Premier League encounter at the Goodison Park

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hoping that Mohamed Salah will be available for selection in their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The 25-year-old was impressive in their 3-0 victory over the Citizens at Anfield Stadium four days ago in the reverse fixture, but was unable to finish the game due to injury.

He was then substituted in the 52nd minute with Georginio Wijnaldum coming on for him for the rest of the fixture – a reason he wasn’t featured in their Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday, April 7.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund handler, while reacting to his side’s goalless draw against the Toffees at the Goodison Park, he says that the report he’s been getting is that the Egyptian will be fit.

There's been little news over how serious Salah's injury is, but Klopp told reporters after the game he should be good to play at the Etihad on Tuesday.

"I don't know what the latest is about Mo Salah," began Klopp. "I haven't got a ticker giving me updates. Everybody tells me he will be fit but we will see."

Klopp was also satisfied with his side’s performance despite their no-goal show all through the game, but claimed that they had control over the game for most part of the game.

"We controlled the game for around 60 minutes, then everything got a bit emotional. In those times we have to control the game, but we didn't.

"At the end there were two crosses that were close, so I am completely fine with the result. Clean sheet, good defending, but last 20 minutes, we need to play and we didn't do that.

"[On Liverpool's second-half] is completely normal, until then it was not the game the people wanted, but that was not our job to do that, not our 1A solution but our 1B and we take that.

"Very important result so let's carry on, another point away, not a long drive home, so now we prepare for the next game."

Salah has been over the moon for Liverpool this season with 29 Premier League goals while his tally so far stands at 38.

He joined the Reds from Italian Serie A side, AS Roma last summer, and he is already being linked with a move to Real Madrid at the end of this season.
